Source-based research, not a personally viewed pair of endings. The selectable choices and replay route come from published guides; the meaning of sacrifice is attributed interpretation, not developer canon.
The two outcomes
| Choice | What happens | Trophy |
|---|---|---|
| Burn | The sun is restored. Dot Esports describes the Burnt One and Potboy giving their lives to free it. | Burn Out |
| Stop | The sun remains confined; the journey continues rather than completing the sacrifice. | Fade Away |
Both endings share the Soulfisher's closing speech. The sources support two outcomes selected at this one decision, not a collectible-gated secret third ending. An interpretation about hope, grief or choosing your companion should not be confused with a hidden unlock condition.
See both endings without starting over
- Reach Moon Mountain's final scene and select either Burn or Stop.
- Let the ending and credits finish, then return to the main menu.
- Select Continue to load the final autosave and choose the other option for its trophy. Chapter select is the fallback route back to Moon Mountain.
Good/bad labels are interpretations. Burn centres restoring light for others; Stop refuses that final sacrifice. The previous detailed assertions about every NPC's mood and Housy's exact fate were not independently corroborated in this revision and are omitted.

Which ending is canon?
